Our local restaurants and cafes are back with creative solutions and menus for Eating out at Home experiences during lockdown 2. Menus are ringing the seasonal changes so expect warming and comforting dishes that we all crave as the evenings have drawn in.

It is really heartening to see our hospitality businesses showing the resilience and agility to re-imagine their offering and deliver their signature experience in a different way. What is even more heartening is the response and support they have received from customers. The opportunity to have an ‘eating out at home’ experience helps to break-up the week and mark the weekend. If we can, let’s all treat ourselves by ordering from one of our local restaurants which helps not only their business keep going through this tough time, but by extension provides a vital lifeline to the local supply chain including our small artisan producers.

To help you all consider your choices, we have pulled together the current options available from around Lisburn & Castlereagh for weekend dining at home. There is something for all budgets and occasions. Menus mostly change weekly so keep an eye out on each individual restaurant’s social media.

Blaze Grill at Lisburn Bowl has created a takeaway menu offering its stone-baked pizza, loaded fries and burgers for collection or delivery, 7 days a week, 4pm-9pm. They even have a very appetizing family bundle deal. Ordering is online. Simply click here.

Chef Jeffers at Home is back. Chef Stephen Jeffers is back with his ‘Cook Along Box’ initiative. Each week is a different theme, for example, the first two boxes of this season include the Ultimate Steak Box and the Italian Pizza Box.

The weekly box includes all your ingredients weighed out in individual tubs or bags and is accompanied by the recipe and a unique video code for you to cook along with Stephen at a time that suits you. An added bonus is that you can re-create the dish at any time you like as you have the recipe to keep and the link is perpetual. The weekly box is announced every Monday and you can place your order by phone on Tuesday and Wednesday on 07453 442280. Collection is from Forestside Cookery School or delivery is on Friday to Belfast, Newtownabbey and Lisburn or on Saturday to North Down, Ards Peninsula and Dundonald. Del Toro Steak House and Urban Grill takeaway is back on Friday and Saturday evenings 5pm-7.30pm with the ‘Sunday Dinner Club’ for takeaway from 1pm-6pm. Their renowned ‘The Beefed up’ and ‘The Magnificent 7’ platters are available on their takeaway menu too. Orders can be texted to 07814 164185 or DM your order via their Facebook page here. Gowdy’s of Down Royal has introduced its ‘Gowdy’s Wings and Dogs’ weekend menu available on Saturday and Sunday to accompany the weekend sport viewing. The Sunday Lunch menu is also available. Check out both menus and ordering details on their Facebook newsfeed.

Hara Hillsborough have continued to do their weekend ‘Hara at Home’ experiences alongside their sit-in service since the springtime such is the popularity and quality of their enjoy at-home meals. They are back for now to solely producing their Friday and Saturday evening meals and Sunday lunches for you to enjoy at home for a few weeks. Menus are launched every Monday on their social media @HaraHillsborough. The price is £26 per person for a 3-course meal, a loaf of bread and maybe a small surprise! Meals are pre-prepared, chilled and boxed. All you need to do is unbox and heat (instructions included) to get your meal on the table. Order online at hara.deliverni.com. Little Thai Café and Bistro in Dundonald is operating its menu as a takeaway service on Friday and Saturday evenings during this current period of restrictions. The Little Thai dishes are authentically created and cooked by Thai chefs. Origin 101 is a new casual dining eatery in Moira with daytime and evening takeaway menus. The Origin 101 daytime menu serves tea and coffee, scones and traybakes, breakfast baps, stews, soups and sandwiches from Wednesday to Saturday, 10am-2pm. The evening menu is served Friday – Sunday 5pm-8pm.* Advance orders by telephone is advised on 02892617105, with lines will open Friday from 4.30apm. Square Bistro has launched two new initiatives this lockdown from its Lisburn Square Restaurant. Firstly, to accompany its popular Tuesday #letscook at 7pm on Facebook Live, they have launched ‘Signature Saturday’s Cook at Home Box', featuring signature dishes from the restaurant. On the Tuesday #letscook, Chef Stevie Higginson will show you how to make the dishes that feature on the following Saturday’s signature box. They also publish the ingredients you need to make one of the dishes if you want to cook-along on their social media the day before. You’ll not only have it perfected for your Saturday evening gourmet meal at home, but you’ll have another dish added to your repertoire! To order your ‘Signature Saturday’, send a DM to the Square Bistro Facebook page by 12pm on Thursday. Collection is from the restaurant between 2pm-4pm on Saturday afternoon.

Sunday Brunch: In addition, for this lockdown, Square Bistro have launched a Sunday Brunch takeaway, available from 10am-1pm by pre-ordering by text or calling down to the restaurant.

The Cardan Bar & Grill ‘Food to Go’ and ‘Sunday’s at Home’ menus are up and running for collection or delivery. Menu options include classic pub dishes such as Spicy Chicken Wings, Crisp Fish & Chips and Southern Fried Chicken Burger on the Thursday-Saturday weekend menu. The Sunday’s at Home menu includes traditional Sunday Roast and Lunch classics, perfect for a cosy autumn Sunday. Ordering is by phone on 028 9267 8065. Orders open at 3pm for collection or delivery from 5pm with menus available here. You can secure your ‘Sunday at Home’ lunch from Saturday afternoon. Drinks also available for delivery.

The Auld House in Moneyreagh is open 3pm-8pm Wednesday – Saturday and 12pm-6pm on Sunday for takeaway and off-sales. The Parson’s Nose takeaway is in full flow again with both its Woodfired Sourdough Pizza and Pub Classics menus to choose from. For Pub Classics, think chicken wings, beer battered Portavogie scampi, wood-fired lasagne with dry aged beef, pork belly and lemon and thyme roast chicken supreme. The Parson’ Nose takeaway is available as a click and collect service on Friday and Saturday’s between 5pm-8.30pm. Simply order on their website or by telephone on 028 9268 3009 after 5pm. ‘Sunday Lunch at Home’ is also back with a full Sunday Lunch menu available from 12.30pm-5pm. Again you can order online for click and collect before 12 noon on a Sunday, or ring on the number above.

The Parson’s Nose Pantry is open 7 days a week from 9am-6pm so you can pick up something from their chilled gastropub range, freshly baked breads, dry-aged steaks, fresh fish, local and international artisan goods.

The Plough at Home is back with its restaurant quality take away menu on Friday and Saturday evenings. You can order classics such as the beer battered hake or 8 hour slow cooked beef cheek on the anyexcuse app here, or by phone from 02892682985 from 1pm on Friday and Saturday. The StillHouse Moira is launching its ‘Gastropub at Home’ and ‘Cocktails at Home’ from Sunday 1st November and they will run from now until Christmas. The Gastropub at Home menu is served hot and ready to enjoy. Orders for your Sunday Gastropub Lunch to be placed online by 6pm on Thursday, for collection between 12-7pm on Sunday. Alternatively, you can phone 028 9278 0735 to book your time slot and place your order between 10am-4pm on Thursday. To sweeten the deal, The StillHouse is applying a 20% discount on online takeaway orders. Keep an eye on their social media for menu updates.

The Taproom Restaurant at Hilden Brewery. The Taproom Restaurant Takeaway service is back for collection or delivery and there is a Sunday Dinner option this time around too. The Taproom Restaurant at Home is an ‘al a carte menu’ of sorts as you can choose from starters such as soups, creamy seafood chowder or fadge bites, with main dishes including seafood pie and Thai chicken curry. There is also a range of sides, desserts and breads to choose from. Dishes arrive cold with re-heat instructions for you to enjoy later that day or even the next day. There are also family sized meals available serving 4-6 people. Food must be ordered the day before and will be ready for collection between 3-6pm the next day. Wine and Brine at Home have brought back their very popular dining experience at home. There is generally a choice of 2 menus for Friday and Saturday and a Sunday lunch menu. Their beef wellington has become a lockdown classic and is a sight to behold! Prices vary across the menu options, typically £25-£26 per person for a 3-4 course meal, with the Beef Wellington menu priced at £80 for 2. The Wine and Brine menu changes weekly and is posted on Monday’s on their website and social media, @wineandbrine. Yellow Door at Hillsborough Castle is now operating a click and collect or delivery service for their popular brunch menu and bistro menu as well as their coffee shop favourites of coffee, pastries, traybakes and scones. Collection is from the café from 10am-4pm or from the top car park from 4pm-8pm. All the renowned Yellow Door bistro dishes can be ordered to enjoy at home including Seafood Chowder, Authentic Bolognaise Ragu and Super You Salad. The signature brunch dishes to take away include Yellow Door Porridge, Breakfast Bap, Bacon & Eggs Benedict or Avocado & Tomato Benedict. Gourmet Streetfood

Pig Out n About by A Mulholland Butchers can be found at the Pet Warehouse car park on Harry’s Road in Hillsborough on Saturday’s between 6pm-8.30pm. Menu changes weekly so just click on their Facebook or Instagram for updates. Orders taken at the van, just follow the safe protocols in place.

The Square Pops Up is the Square Bistro on wheels and can be found every Friday at Christchurch car park between 5.30pm-8.30pm. You can pre-order by text at any time on 07391 676467 or order at the hatch on arrival. The menu changes weekly so just check it out on Facebook or Instagram.
