This October, the popular Moira Speciality Food Fair will return Moira Demesne on Saturday 15 October from 10am-6pm.
Lisburn & Castlereagh invite you to meet farmers and innovative producers from Moira village and beyond, who will again be showcasing Northern Ireland’s rich food heritage.
This year the focus is on sustainability. In the Speciality Food Hall, you’ll meet farmers who are committed to sustainable farming methods and heritage breeds, vegetable growers working with the seasons and artisan producers using the best locally sourced ingredients to make exceptional foods for everyone to enjoy.
In the Foodhall, you can expect artisans including Spontaneous Deuce, Ispini Charcuterie & Deli, The Daily Apron, Jack’s Fudge, Ballylisk, Ke Nako Biltong, Indie Fude, Castlescreen Farm and Deli Muru.
This year’s Food Fair will feature demos from Moira Chef, Chris McGowan from Wine & Brine talking about age-old cooking processes like pickling, brining and fermenting and how you can use them to transform your cooking.
Dearbhla Reynolds from The Cultured Club shares her love of fermentation and how to ferment food that will add flavour to your meals and support your gut health.
Chef and Author Paula McIntyre will offer some simple recipes you can make at home and dishes using seasonal produce.
Out in the Demesne, is a select gathering of Northern Ireland’s top food trucks. You’ll find a wide range of international cuisines and plenty of seating. Try gourmet burgers, loaded fries, seafood, crepes, mini donuts, and delicious tray bakes.
If you’re into craft beer and whisky, then stop by the Cafe Tent to sample drinks and cocktails from Hinch Distillery and Hilden Brewery. Hilden Brewery will also be showcasing beers from around the region. Moira residents Steady Neddy NI will be providing speciality coffee and tea.
As well as interactive demos, the day-long festival will have lots of entertainment for the whole family.
Kinder Garden Cooks will be there with gardening crafts for the children. Squiggles & Giggles will have lots of movement and dance activities and the librarians from Moira Library will be telling stories on the grass.
Providing the live music will be the popular Belfast Busking Band back at Moira Demesne with their mix of funk, jazz and pop and more. They’ll be joined by singer-songwriters and Lisburn locals, Ryan Hannah and Kyle John Suckling.
