The Downshire Monument can be seen when travelling from Hillsborough to Dromara village and can even be spotted along with the spire of St. Malachy's Church as you travel down the M1.

A testimonial to the third Marquis, this tall and imposing fluted Doric column of dressed stone has a square base on a podium of three tall, raked steps - it's a real must for history and architecture buffs.

A short drive from the monument is the fabulous Georgian village of Hillsborough, the gemstone of Lisburn Castlereagh.
