What to Expect and How to Plan Your Visit

There’s something truly enchanting about the Lisburn Light Trail, where twinkling lights and festive decorations bring the city to life and make it a must-visit destination for holiday fun. If you're planning a visit, here's a guide to help you make the most of this magical experience, from the best times to go to the festive activities you won’t want to miss.

When to Visit

The Lisburn Light Trail is open from 22nd November, and open from 4pm making it the best time to experience the full magic of the lights. For a quieter experience, consider visiting on weekdays before the weekend crowds arrive. The lights are most dazzling after sunset, making this a perfect outing to kick off a festive evening in Lisburn City Centre.

The Lisburn Light Trail will run until Sunday 22nd December with FREE admission! Entry is from 4pm until 8.30pm, with last entry at 8pm.

What to Expect on the Trail

As you step into the city centre, you’ll be greeted by a world of lights, sparkling installations, and Christmas-themed decorations that make for the ultimate holiday atmosphere. Santa’s Grotto is a highlight for families, offering kids a chance to meet Santa and make lasting memories. Don’t forget to bring a camera to capture these precious moments!

The Light Trail also features live music from local bands and choirs every Wednesday to Saturday only, filling the air with the sounds of Christmas classics that add to the cosy holiday feel. There are plenty of photo-worthy spots along the trail, so take your time to enjoy each stop and snap a few shots with friends and family.

Festive Activities and Entertainment

In addition to the light displays, Lisburn has a variety of festive activities that make the evening even more magical. Pop into the Christmas market stalls along the way to find unique gifts, handmade crafts, and tasty treats. This is a great chance to pick up a special gift or two while supporting local artisans.

Lisburn’s retailers are also getting into the holiday spirit, with beautifully decorated shop windows and festive displays. Some stores may even have extended hours, allowing you to browse and shop after the Light Trail.
