About

Enjoy a frightful Friday night this Halloween with Friday Fright Night at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens, a special evening of spooktacular immersive ghost walks on 29 October 2021, suitable for ages 14+.

This spooky special event offers the chance to encounter characters from the castle's past as you follow a darkly lit path through Hillsborough’s historic gardens. End your walk in the Stable Yard with a spectacular re-enactment of Hercat the Illusionist’s famous illusions.

Follow the atmospheric trail through the castle’s spectacular gardens and encounter characters from Hillsborough’s past, as the ghostly tales of Hillsborough’s haunting history are reimagined in this unique after-hours experience, brought to you by the creators of The Wild Raven Walk.

Discover the stories of Nancy Stott - murdered in 1825 where the castle’s South Terrace now stands, the ghoulish tale of the Greek Prince whose body mysteriously disappeared from his coffin, and Major Earl, skipper of the Syphide  thrown overboard by the 4th Marquess in 1860.

End your walk in the Stable Yard with a spectacular finale of a re-enactment of Hercat the Illusionist’s famous illusions, recreated by Cahoots Theatre NI.

For the safety, health and comfort of our visitors, staff and volunteers, we continue to operate with many of our COVID-19 safety measures in place, including managing visitor numbers so our sites remain safe places to visit. To guarantee entry we ask members and visitors to pre-book tickets and timed entry slots in advance. We will also welcome walk-ups wherever possible. We expect and recommend that face masks are worn in indoor spaces and that visitors continue to maintain a respectful distance from staff and other visitors not in their group.
